Barbara Ann Betz (nee Miller) age 94, formerly of Anderson Twp., died December 18, 2022. She was the cherished wife of 69 years to the late Frederick A. Betz. Born to John M. Miller and Theo Boyd Miller in Bloomington, Illinois, on June 13, 1928. Preceded in death by a son, James E. Betz. Survived by her children and their spouses: Mary (Dick), John (Lori), Lorraine Wingate Betz, Louise (Joe) and Jane (George), 9 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Offered a full scholarship to the University of St. Louis, she instead chose to work and to put Fred through college. Barb was a bright, generous and energetic mother to her five children and an active volunteer. After receiving a sewing machine for Christmas in the early 70's, Barb proceeded to make clothes for herself and her children, and drapes for her own home and for many of her friends. An avid bridge player, a volunteer for over 30 years at the Gift Shop at the Anderson Mercy Hospital, and an enthusiastic golfer at Royal Oak Golf Club, Barb loved her family, she loved to travel and she loved a good game of cards. Barb cherished all the new friends she made in the last 8 years at Twin Lakes. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on Tuesday, December 27th at 10:30 am. Friends may visit at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 am. A private family inurnment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
