Life Story for Carl S. Ackermann Jr.

Carl S. Ackermann Jr., 89 years, born December 23, 1931 in Madisonville, Cincinnati, Ohio. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on October 31, 2021. Carl was the son of Carl S Ackermann Sr. and Alma G (Petrosky) Ackermann. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann (Hennessy) and his brothers, Eugene (Cathy) and Marty (Pauletta).

Carl was a graduate of Purcell high school (49) and the University Of Cincinnati College Of Pharmacy. He owned pharmacies in Fairfax and Mt Carmel from 1956 until 1980. After retiring from his pharmacy, Carl found a new life in real estate, joining Sibcy Cline realtors in Anderson Township.

Carl was strong in his faith, with over 50 years as a member of IHM parish. He was a loving husband to Mary Ann for 60 years. He was a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed cross word puzzles and worked them daily. A huge car enthusiast, a love fostered by his father, Carl Sr., who owned Harry and Carl Automotive. His pride and joy was his 1952 MGTD. He dabbled in many things including stained glass. He served in the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Germany (53-55).

He is survived by his children: David (Wendy), Diane Biehle (Ed), Terri Venesy (Bryan), Susan Scheidler (Mark), Joseph, and Paul (Kathy).

He had 17 grandchildren: Sarah, Joey (Lisa), Jennifer, Emily (Joe), Jessica (fiancé Matt), Michael, Stephen, Sam, Lauren (fiancé Kevin), Melissa, Eddie, Jacob, Lisa, Allison, Josh, Teresa, and Katie, and 9 great grandchildren.

He was lovingly called Grumpy by his great granddaughter and embraced that moniker.

He was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

A memorial mass will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on Beechmont Avenue, beginning at 10:30 AM on Saturday November 13th. Friends may visit at the church on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Carl’s honor may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati.
