David Wilson Matthews, Dec. 9, 1932 - July 27, 2022, age 89. David, the second son of an insurance salesman and a homemaker, grew up in Madisonville and attended Walnut Hills High School, where he was valedictorian of the class of 1950. He graduated phi beta kappa and cum laude from Harvard in 1954, returning to Cincinnati after two years in the Army to attend law school. He worked for Taft, Stettinius, and Hollister for 10 years before joining the in-house legal team at Eagle-Picher, where he was Secretary when he retired in 1994. Dave was known for his quick wit, his good nature, and his generosity. He served on the board of the Epilepsy Council, was an active member of the Cincinnati Lawyers Club, volunteered for Meals on Wheels, and served as a Deacon and an Elder at the Mt. Washington Presbyterian Church. He's survived by his loving wife Liz, daughters Patricia and Cindy, his son Bill, his older brother John, and three nephews and four grandnieces.
