Obituary for Deacon William Michael "Bill" Mullaney

Deacon William "Bill" Michael Mullaney passed away surrounded by his family on March 17th, 2024 at the age of 87. He was born to Frank and Ethel (nee Drury) Mullaney on January 29, 1937 in Jacksonville, Florida.

A graduate of Jacksonville University, he worked as a safety engineer and manager in the insurance industry for over 40 years, retiring from Aetna/Travelers.

Ordained as a Deacon in the Catholic Church in 1998, he particularly enjoyed prison ministry and marriage preparation. Bill was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary parish since 1984, where he organized the Rosary Rally for many years, and where he also served as a Deacon for over 25 years. He was also a 4th Degree Knight in The Knights of Columbus, Assembly 1621. He was a long-time voice on Sacred Heart Radio. Bill was a man who truly loved his Faith and lived the Faith he loved. Everyone with whom he connected felt his compassion and caring and yet he was so humble.

He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Nancy (nee Bielefeld) of 64 years, his loving children Joe (Teresa), Steve, David (Merrie), Karen (Brian) Alessi and Diane (Craig) Todd. He is survived by his loving grandchildren Mike, Chris (Christie), William (Taylor), Matthew, Emilie, John Paul, Patrick, Benjamin, Aaron, Tony, the late Nick, Madi (Oscar) and Alex (fiancée Lexi). Also survived by great-grandchildren: Callie, Henry, Dominic and Cooper. He is also survived by his loving brother Larry (Theresa) of Jacksonville, Florida. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill was so proud of his Irish heritage thus it is fitting he passed away on St. Patrick's Day.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on Thursday, March 21st at 10:30 am. The Mass will be livestreamed at https://www.church.ihom.org/ (scroll down to the lower right hand corner of the page and go to "Click Here to Watch Mass Online")
