Obituary for Helen L. Lowe

Helen L. Lowe (nee Richey) age 95 of Anderson Twp., died March 21, 2020. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky and came to Cincinnati when she was a baby. She had two brothers. Bill Richey who was killed in a plane crash in Newtown and Roy Richey who is deceased and a sister Dorothy Moorehead who passed away with cancer. Her Mother (Cleo) & Father (Roy) had moved many times so Helen would walk the distance to school just to go to the same school, in Windsor.

At the age of 16 years, she met Ova who was in the service at the time. After going together for six months, they married. They lived with her mom & dad and her brother for a while then got a small apartment in Newport until their first daughter Joyce was born. Joyce was born in the army hospital in Fort Thomas, Kentucky. When Joyce was six months old Helen moved to Camp Breckinridge, Kentucky. Shortly after, Ova was sent overseas to the Pacific. Helen came back home and got an apartment with her sister Dorothy until Ova came home from he service (2 yrs & 2 days).

Their second daughter Dorleen arrived and the family moved to two other places. Helen worked at RCA for a while and then got pregnant with Gary. After coming home from the hospital, they moved into their first home on Strafer Street. Joyce started going to Columbia Church of Christ in the east end and was the onewho started us going to church in 1953. We started just before Gary was born and have been going since.

Helen volunteered to call people for prayers for those that needed them. She also worked at Outreach in the East End and sent cards to missionaries. Helen was a volunteer for the Mount Healthy Home Center and always liked doing things for the elderly people. Helen was also blessed with a great friend Phyllis
McKee.

Helen started working at SENCO Products and retired after 30 years. She went to Maranellos Cosmetology School for three years at night while working at SENCO and got her license and went back for a managing license. She was a loving wife to Ova T. Lowe who is deceased, devoted father of Gary T. (Kathy) Lowe, Joyce Ziegler, and Dorleen (Roger) McCrary, caring grandmother for Jodale Albert, Travis (Jenny) McCrary, Chad (Jordan) & Casey (Ashley) Lowe, cherished great-grandmother of Cheyenne Albert, and adored great great-grandmother of Eli & Emma McCrary, Alliyha Albert, Kyler Taylor, Adrian, Peyton, Harper & Larkyn Lowe.

Due to the unfortunate circumstances with the Coronavirus (COVID 19), a private family service will be held and she will be laid to rest next to her husband of 78 years who died March 11, 2020 at Arlington Memorial Gardens.
