Obituary for James Q. Haney

James Q. Haney, 93, of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Fri., Nov. 26, 2021. He was born on Mar. 3, 1928 in Clairton, PA to the late Michael and Irene Haney. Jim began his long career with US Steel Corporation at the age of 16, working in the mill. Following high school, he proudly served his country during WW II in the United States Navy from 1946-1948. After his service in the Navy, Jim attended Duquesne University where he studied Business Management and met his loving wife of 65 years, Mary T. Haney (nee McKee). He re-joined US Steel Corporation upon his honorable discharge from the Navy and was transferred to the Pittsburgh & Conneaut Dock Company in Conneaut, OH in 1958. Jim served in several management roles over his career and retired with 39 years of service to the company in 1983. Jim always put family, his church and community service first and was a loyal friend to many throughout his life. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Jim was preceded in death by his sister Lois (Edward) Winner. In addition to his wife Mary, he is survived by his sister Nancy (Lloyd) Barry, as well as his loving children: Jim Haney, Beth (Dave) Kammerer, Laura (Jim) Modzelewski, Matt (Kathleen) Haney, Dan (Terry) Haney, Ellen (Erick) Harback and Mary Driscoll. He was the proud and loving grandfather of 17 grandchildren, Rinnie (Tom) Hamilton, John (Chelsea) Knights of Kammerer, Meg (Jeff) Meek, Tom Kammerer, Melissa Modzelewski, Jack (Leslie) Harback, Wade Modzelewski, Julianne Haney, Lauren Haney, Margie Kammerer, Sally Modzelewski, Michael Haney, Cal Harback, David Haney, Carolyn Haney, Bill Driscoll, Drew Driscoll, and great-granddaughter Lorelei Hamilton.

Visitation will be held Friday, December 3, 2021 from 9:00 - 10:00 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 7820 Beechmont Avenue, Cincinnati, 45255 with Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati, www.hospiceofcincinnati.org
