Obituary for John A. Glaser

John Aloysius Glaser,age 79, of Cincinnati, OH passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2024 surrounded by family. John was born in Wheeling, WV, a son of the late Robert A. and Margaret (nee Robinson) Glaser.

He was a Research Scientist with the USEPA for 42.5 years, where he received the EPA Gold Medal for the research effort applied to the EXXON Valdez oil spill in Prince William Sound, Alaska, the USDA/USEPA award for Fungal Treatment Process Technology Development, USEPA Scientific and Technology Award for developing analytical method performance measures, the EPA Bronze Medal for Superior performance contributions to EPA’s Biosystems Program’s Committee in terms of scope and management and the EPA Bronze Medal for Development of the USEPA Biotechnology Research Program.

He was a 50+ year member of the American Chemical Society and served multiple roles including Chair for the local Cincinnati section (2020). As a graduate of Wheeling Jesuit College, he received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2002 and he served as President of the 50 Year Club (2016-2019). John has been a parishioner of Guardian Angels Church since moving to Cincinnati in 1979, where he served on parish council, was a lector, sang in the choir and the Noon Mass singing ensemble.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother William Glaser. John is survived by his wife, Donna Hindman Glaser, his three daughters, Elizabeth Yagatilee and her husband Venky, of Fort Mill, SC, Anna Rapaport and her husband Jason, of Colorado Springs, CO, Margaret Glaser and her fiancé Carl, of North Hollywood, CA; three grandchildren, Rohan, Madeline and Olivia; and his five siblings, Mary Gotses, Kathy Boehm and her husband Mark, Eleanor Schmid and her husband David, Robert Glaser, Philip Glaser, all of Wheeling, WV; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit from 5-7pm Tuesday, April 2 at T.P. WHITE & SONS Funeral Home, 2050 Beechmont Ave, Mt. Washington. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am, Wednesday April 3, 2024, at Guardian Angels Church, 6531 Beechmont Ave, with Fr. Tom King as celebrant.
