Maryann and Larry, I just learned today of your sweet Lauren's passing. I cannot even began to imagine the depth of your sorry. I remember how excited she was about her trip to Australia when Andrea and I came to your house so Andrea could share her Australia experience with Lauren. Such a beautiful young lady! Please know you are all in our thoughts and especially in our prayers. We love you!

I want to extend my deepest condolences to you in this terrible hour. I was one of Lauren’s philosophy professors at UD, and she was a student who stands out with special clarity in a professor’s memory. In every interaction I found her to be insightful, intelligent, and above all radiantly cheerful. The subject of our senior seminar together was compassion, and I still recall her special insight into animals, who do not always receive the compassion from humankind that they deserve but who Lauren not only loved but also understood on a deep level. She struck me as a profoundly compassionate person, and it is especially tragic in a moment like this to lose the one whose compassion we most want to rely on.
