Obituary for Margaret "Peggy" Schott (nee Henkel)

Margaret "Peggy" Henkel Schott, age 96, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2020. She was preceded in death by her late husband Walter E. Schott Jr. in 2016. Peggy was born on September 17, 1924 to Louis and Margaret Henkel in Cincinnati, Ohio. On June 6, 1942 she married the love of her life, Walter E. Schott Jr. who was serving in the United States Army at the time.

She was the mother of Sue (Jim) Newman, Jo (Perry) Butler, Nellie (and the late Michael) Schweer, Meg (Jeff) Stevenson, Dr. Walter E. (Elaine) Schott III, Dr. Louis J. (Jennifer) Schott, and Dr. Harold C. (Annette) Schott. Cherished grandmother of Megan, Jamie, Chris, Michael and Stephen Newman; Margy, Aldy, Sarah and Hannah Butler; Bryce Schweer and Samantha Schweer Perkinson; Tom, Dave, Alex, and Molly Stevenson; Callie and Walter E. Schott IV; Sarah, Melissa and Noah Schott; and 20 great grandchildren. Dear Aunt of Peggy and Jack Cronin and sister of Jane (Jim) Duffy and the late Anne (Jack) Cronin.

Peggy was a graduate of Summit Country Day School and was involved in many volunteer activities there as all seven of her children attended the school. She founded the Boutique Noel in 1961 and in 1990 she was given the McKensie-Sargent Award, the highest award given by the school to an alumni for their lifetime achievements.

After raising her seven children she used her many talents by helping people find the "home of their dreams" by joining Coldwell Banker Real Estate. Among her many awards she was recognized as "Realtor of the Year" by the Cincinnati Board of Realtors in 1987. In 2004 she was inducted into the "Circle of Excellence Club" of Coldwell Banker.

The true joys of her life were her husband "June" during their 74 years of marriage, her family, and her Church. She was a longtime member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish and served on many committees over the years.

In her "spare time" she achieved "Master" status as a member of the Cincinnati Bridge Association.

There will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 7820 Beechmont Avenue, 45255, at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 5. Interment will be for the family at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
