Obituary for Marion F. Combs

Marion F. Combs, aged 77, of Cincinnati, Ohio, was born and raised in Georgia. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Marion reposed on July 1, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Diana W. Combs (nee Williams), devoted father of Philip J. Combs and Alexandria W. Combs, loving grandfather of Walker and Isaac Combs, and dear brother of Susan Aldrich. He also leaves behind his daughter-in-law, Dawn Combs.

Marion was dubbed Mr. Conviviality as he connected easily with all people and constantly kept his family laughing with his original jokes and pop culture humor. He was a true visionary with an unbridled imagination committing his life to philanthropic development for the arts, cultural, and educational organizations. Primary in his life was his devotion to the Orthodox Christian faith; he served the faith as a tonsured reader, was active in establishing missions, and contributed his talents as a fundraiser extraordinaire. He also served as a member of many non-profit boards throughout his life.

Marion graduated from Emory University with high honors in English; a further honor was his induction into Phi Beta Kappa. He also earned a Master of Arts in English Literature and Film Studies from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

The visitation and funeral service will be held at St. James Eastern Orthodox Church, 6577 Branch Hill Miamiville Rd, Loveland, Ohio on Tuesday July 5. Friends may visit at the church from 10-11 a.m. and the funeral will follow at 11 a.m. A family interment will be held at St. Anthony's Greek Orthodox Monastery Cemetery, Florence, AZ. T.P. White & Sons Funeral Home of Cincinnati, Ohio, is serving the family.

Memorial donations honoring Marion may be made to the Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC) of which he was a great supporter or Fortitude Careers where he was a founding board member and philanthropic advisor.

From water wells, to schools, to substance abuse programs, to clinics, and churches the Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC) facilitates and supports projects throughout the year aimed at ministering to the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs of people where missionaries, mission teams, and mission priests serve.
