Obituary

Mary Lou Wolf, 56 of Cincinnati, OH passed away on January 5th. She was born on October 13th, 1963 to George and Eleanor (nee: Rapson) Wolf in Hamilton, Ohio.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents.

She was a loving sister to Susan (Todd) Stiffler. She adored her niece Ella, and nephews Taylor, Logan, Drew, and Jake who all loved her deeply. She is also survived by her dear friend Debbie Reeves and family.

Mary Lou received her Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Cincinnati and worked most of her career serving non-for-profit organizations. Always most important to Mary Lou in her work was caring for the underserved, such as elderly clients living in poverty and those unable to afford legal services via her work with Volunteer Lawyers for the Poor.

Music lit up her soul. She was an accomplished trumpet player. She shared her love of music by teaching family, friends, and inner-city children singing, reading, and playing instrumental music. She herself was a beautiful singer. She was a faithful, loyal friend who also loved children dearly and had a unique ability to connect with them.

Mary Lou cared much about peace and living in a state of grace.

Mary Lou was one of the best bosses and mentors I’ve had. She was so smart, funny, caring and supportive. She worked long hours for the causes she believed in. She would truly do anything for anyone. I learned and grew a lot during the time we worked together. We did hard work but we had a great team and made it fun and meaningful. I hope she knew what she meant to me. She also loved her family and friends fiercely. She talked daily of them when we worked together and had such a fun way of saying “Ella.” I wish it hadn’t been so long since we spoke. I’m grateful that I had her in my life, I’m better for it. Fly with the angels ML. We’ll meet again some day.

Mary Lou started out as my boss but ended up as my friend. She was humble and enjoyed simple and sentimental things. She was highly intelligent, in several areas, but her area of expertise was in matters of the heart. She loved going to bat for the less fortunate who she sometimes referred to as “the underdog”. I was the underdog, a few times, and she never failed to offer assistance in whatever way that she could. When I learned that I would need to have brain surgery, she helped me find a top notch doctor and also helped me to prepare a living will. When I got married, she performed the sweetest ceremony ever. It was in the park and she decorated with lace, birdhouses, wind chimes and the cutest vases from her own home! Thank goodness I was able to thank her again, not very long ago, for that special time. I was lucky to have known her and will always remember the countless in-depth conversations we had about life, love, and her family (her sister, niece and nephews, Debbie and her family) . She had a beautiful heart and she definitely left many wonderful memories with everyone who knew her. She’ll be missed, and remembered, for all time.

Candy, I couldn’t agree with you more! You started just as I was leaving MNM. I’m so glad you got to experience the same Mary Lou I did.
