Mary Patricia "Pat" Egbers

May 1, 1944 — March 26, 2023

Mary Patricia "Pat" Egbers (nee Markesbery), age 78 of Mt. Washington, passed March 26, 2023. She was the beloved wife of Dennis Egbers, devoted mother of Emily (Marty) Coaker, and dear sister of Judy (the late Tom) Winstel, Russ, Chris (Colleen), and the late Rick Markesbery; and sister-in-law of the late Joyce Egbers. Also survived by loving cousins, loyal friends, and her adoring nieces and nephews - Tom (Carol) Winstel, Ann (Bill) Moran, Julie (Steve) Lazarus, Mary (Tim) Seaman, Jenny (Will) Brandt, Joe Markesbery, Shannon Markesbery, and many sweet great-nieces and great-nephews.

The daughter of James Russell and Julia Mae Markesbery, Patty was born in northern Kentucky. She grew up in the family homes on Dixie Highway and Stevenson Rd. in Erlanger. She earned her green thumb from her Dad and her sweet, caring, fun loving nature from her Mom. Also instilled in her were the importance of honesty, hard work, family traditions, and the love of making good, homemade food. She loved her mother's Tea Rings with apples and white icing, passed down the best chicken casserole recipes, and perfected her carrot cake for Emily's birthdays.

Pat attended St. Henry High School and spent time at Thomas More College. As a young woman, she enjoyed fun times with her friends and to this day, many still talk about the ski boat she and Rosemary owned. She enjoyed her working days at Drs. Nutini & Heimbrock's office, the Cincinnati Eye Institute, the jewelry counter at Lazarus, and retirement from Fifth Third Bank. Above all though, her priority was time well spent with family and friends. Wife, Mom, Aunt, Friend were her greatest titles and the ones in which we all know she excelled.

Pat married Denny in 1976 and moved across the river to Ohio. She kept social and never let distance of any length truly separate anyone over the decades, especially family. Residing mostly in Mt. Washington, she cared for Denny throughout 46+ years of marriage, and received the same care in return. They established and kept a lovely household, and raised Emily in the Catholic faith. Outside of the home, they truly enjoyed traveling in many forms and delighted in the adventure.

She will always be remembered for her beautiful blonde hair - always meticulously curled, and genuine smile - framed by bright pink lipstick. A classy lady who enjoyed time with her lifelong friends Jill & Sue, Marie's annual Christmas Tea with the ladies of the family, breakfasts/dinners with her "club" girls, entertaining on the houseboat with Denny, or just a simple afternoon shopping with Emily. She loved "just being Mom" most days and provided for her family in more ways than imaginable. "Aunt Patty", as she was known to many, was so much fun - her spontaneous nature and upbeat personality lifted any room she entered. She would act silly just to make you smile when you needed it. She would be there for a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen, or offer a hand to sew a school play costume the night before the big show. She wanted others to be comfortable, enjoy life, and always reminded Emily to treat herself to a little something special on occasion. She would do so much for others, because she sincerely loved taking care of them. She knew the little things in life mattered and actually weren't so little after all.

Pat was grateful for much and enjoyed the slower pace of life. She recognized that change happens and valued finding the good moments throughout life's happenings.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Guardian Angels Church on Friday, March 31st at 10 am. Friends may visit at the church on Friday from 9 to 10 am. If desired, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association. T.P. White & Sons Funeral Home serving the family. www.tpwhite.com
