Obituary for Nancy Elizabeth Davis (nee Biehle)

Nancy Elizabeth Davis (nee Biehle), 74 years young, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 13th, 2022, at home in Bradford, MA, surrounded by loved ones. Though she will be dearly missed, after a courageous battle with both Pulmonary Fibrosis and Lung Cancer over the last several years, we are grateful she is no longer suffering and is finally at peace.

Mom was born on June 7, 1947, in Cincinnati, OH to her loving parents, George A. Biehle and Elizabeth Ann Betty (nee Castle) Biehle. Mom spent the early part of her life there before marrying into the military life that afforded her the opportunity to live and travel around the world!

Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Roger Burgess. Their love for each other was grounded in a wonderful friendship. In addition, she is survived by her devoted son, Jeffry Earl Davis "JED" of Los Angeles, CA, as well as her supportive daughter and son-in-law, Carey Elizabeth and David Alan Creps of Amesbury, MA. There are three grandchildren whom Nancy cherished and adored just as much as they cherished and adored their Nana: Maddy, Catie & Nicky Creps were the light of her life! Nancy is also survived by her sister, Suzanne (Daniel J.) O'Donnell of Cincinnati, OH, her niece and nephew-in-law, Meredith and Mike Santoni of St. Louis, MO and their three children, Corey, Hannah & Sean. Nancy is also survived by her stepdaughter, Brenna Burgess, of Cincinnati, OH and a handful of cousins and step siblings. Nancy was predeceased by her parents.

Nancy attended Fairfax Hall in Waynesboro, VA for high school, where she met her roommate and lifelong best friend, Betsy Elsas. She sang in the choir, played field hockey and was part of the equestrian riding club during her time there. She went on to study at both the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and the University of Cincinnati with a focus on Special Education.

Mom had an energy and spirit felt by anyone blessed to be in her presence. She had a wit and infectious, quirky, and sometimes naughty sense of humor appreciated by all privileged to know her. She felt a boundless love for her family and many friends, was passionate about gardening, especially growing purple and red roses, and enjoyed baking her locally famous cheesecake and serving our favorite strawberry Jell-O salad at every family gathering. Mom also adored all the cats she and Roger cared for over the years (a good number of them being white ones all named after white wines) and passed away with gratitude knowing Roger would have the companionship of their beloved black cat, Hershey. Mom loved all animals, domesticated and wild, with a particular affinity for birds, most especially owls. Her favorite place to peacefully escape was Salisbury Beach Reservation. Mom also loved her TV viewing as well: most everything on HGTV and Animal Planet, as well as classic movies and every episode of Dr. Phil and Law & Order: SVU.

Some of the biggest passions of her life were dancing, music & singing. From her youth, where she proudly started singing in choirs in Cincinnati, Mom continued singing throughout her entire life. She sang whenever and wherever she had the chance in the car, at the dinner table, over the phone, karaoke with her friends and family the list goes on & on. And she loved all kinds of music from Broadway musicals to artists such as Anne Murray, The Bee Gees, The Gatlin Brothers, Johnny Mathis, and Andrea Bocelli to Whitesnake, Lady A, Gnarls Barkley, Adele, Prince, and Bruno. Together, Mom and Roger shared a love for their melody: 18th Variation from Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini by Rachmaninov. We are all grateful this was playing for her at the time of her passing.

Mom & Roger also shared a love of travel. They were blessed to take several cruises, both Caribbean and Alaskan, and visit Hawaii (twice!), NYC many times for musicals, and a variety of European countries together, including England, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. For her 70th birthday and final trip, Mom realized her dream to see her ancestral country of Germany by cruising up the Rhine River with her husband, children, and grandchildren in tow.

There is no doubt, Mom left a lasting mark with anyone blessed to have known her. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local SPCA, or light a candle in Nancy's honor. Mom was passionate about the color purple, even sporting purple hair for many years! If you are able to join us for her funeral service, please consider wearing her favorite color somehow, in some way.

Family and Friends are welcome to attend the service, visitation, and interment. Service at T P WHITE & SONS Funeral Home 2050 Beechmont Ave. Mt. Washington on Mon. Feb. 21, at 1 PM with visitation on Mon. from 11:30 AM to 1 PM. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery.
