Neal loved his family, faith and friends dearly. He always greeted me with a big smile and hug and called me Dean Dean. My fondest memory of Neal was when he tried very very hard to teach me to play Euchre. As patient as he was he hit a boiling point and to quote Neal " Dean you have to follow suit, not like a suit and tie." Rest in Peace Nea Nea (my nickname for him).

Waiting to take you away
Climb in the back with your head in the clouds
And you're gone. Wagso, rest in peace my Brother.. Until we meet again

It seems like only yesterday when the Wagner Family moved into Watch Hill. Word in the hood was that it was 4 raucous boys, and their demur little sister. Of course, my older brothers Dee and Mike, with the help of Ward, had nominated themselves as the unofficial Welcome Wagon committee.
From that day forward, the Brockman and Wagner brothers were always entwined in each other lives, good or bad.
Neal, the sweetheart that he was, seemed to always be ready to answer the call from any of the Brockman’s when the plea went out. It could be something as mundane as helping to open the pool, playing Santa for our family Christmas or an epic event, like taking part in one of our weddings.
Neal was our constant. He was always there for all our important milestones, be it marriage, birth, divorce, or death.
When we would celebrate any and everything, Neal would always raise a glass and say, “Nostrovia”. It’s an English mispronunciation of a Russian word, ‘cheers’. But it was Watch Hill slang for ‘let’s get drunk’.
To Neal, our beloved and cherished friend. You will be forever in our hearts!
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal
Love leaves a memory no one can steal

Jenny: Our heart goes out to you and your boys,
Dee, Mike, Donnie, Tec, Bill & Holly

I was heartbroken to learn about the passing of Uncle Neal. He was a one of a kind guy and things won't be the same without him. I am so grateful to have had the relationship that I had with Neal. I have countless fond memories from Wisconsin, Hilton Head, Norris, family gatherings, and holidays where Neal was almost always controlling the music.

Neal was one of the first major supporters of my interest in law school. Even when I was a middle school kid with a very limited understanding of what an attorney does, when I told Neal that I might want to be a lawyer, he encouraged me 100%. Over the years he would continue to say things like: "still thinking about law school? I think you'd make a good lawyer." It wasn't uncommon to find Neal and l engaged in some discussion about one philosophical topic or another. I will miss these discussions as well as our (occasional) debates. Despite being more than 30 years older than me, whenever we would have one of these epic discussions or debates, Neal would always give me the chance to respond and really listen to what I had to say. Looking back, I realize that might have been challenging for him considering how much young me would talk during these discussions.

Neal, I can't believe you're not here with us anymore, but I am so thankful to have known you. You made us laugh, taught me about music, challenged me in our debates, and always encouraged me -- I can't thank you enough for that. A few years ago, you gave me a Beatles CD collection at Christmas. At the time, I wanted to joke -- "CDs? what am I supposed to do with these? I don't have a CD player, its 2018, Neal!" Flash forward to today and I am so happy to have the collection sitting on my bookshelf as a reminder of you.
