Obituary for R. Daniel Wolfangel Jr.

Raymond Daniel "Dan" Wolfangel Jr, age 76, died peacefully on January 13, 2023. He is survived by his two children, Craig Wolfangel with his wife Siae (Carmel, IN) and Gina Gray with her husband Jason (Hartville, OH) as well as grandchildren Krista, Julia, Colton, Trinity, Lauren, and Rachel and great-grandchildren Lailana, Quinton, Iycis, Audriana, Kaylani, and Zakai and ex-wife, Karen Wolfangel (Canton, OH) and life-partner of almost 25 years, Catherine Morgan (The Villages, FL). His children and grandchildren were his absolute pride and joy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Julia, his grandparents Clarence and Carrie, and his Uncle Donald and Aunt Mildred. He graduated from Ohio State and was a huge OSU football and basketball fan. He looked forward to county fair tractor displays, farmer markets and anything that reminded him of his youth spent farming with his
grandparents and extended family in Cincinnati. He prided himself in hard work and the ingenuity formed from lessons from the family farm. He was a welding engineer spending most of his career at Babcock & Wilcox in Barberton, OH, also working at Hendrickson-Turner and Ecodyne before retiring from Union Metal. He loved Model A cars and spent many happy hours driving his family in rallies and parades. He enjoyed coaching Craig and Gina in Odyssey of the Mind competitions. He and Cathy spent many hours hiking or walking in local parks in Ohio and Florida. Christmas gatherings, first with extended family in Cincinnati and later with nuclear family were the highlights of every year. Receiving Christmas socks in your stocking meant you were part of the family, and Dan will be buried wearing his. Family might be caught wearing theirs in remembrance. Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life at a private gathering from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 18 th at Schneeberger Funeral Home 2222 Fulton Drive, N.W., Canton, Ohio 44709. Please contact Cathy at 330-730-4112 with any questions. A second celebration of life will be held at T.P. WHITE & SONS Funeral Home 2050 Beechmont Ave, Mt. Washington on Friday, January 20, at 10:30 AM. Friends may visit on Fri from 9:30-10:30 AM. Interment at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
