Obituary for Rebecca M. Martin
Rebecca Ruth "Becky" Martin (nee Miller) passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at the age of 88 after a courageous battle with dementia. Beloved wife of the late Robert C. Martin. Devoted mother of the late Beth Gary and survived by her children Jack (Chris) Gary, Eric (Lori) Gary, Lori (Michael) Mitchell and Steve (Sarah) Martin. Also survived by her grandchildren Katie Gary, Jay Gary, Rob Mitchell, John (Erin) Mitchell, Laura Martin, and Rachel Martin and great grandchild Emma Mitchell. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Becky was born on October 22, 1932 to Floyd and Margaret Miller and was raised in Mariemont, Ohio with her sisters Helen Hill, Kathryn Denny, and Barbara Jones. She graduated from Mariemont High School in 1950. She received her Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from Miami University, and her Masters Degree in Reading Education from the University of Cincinnati.
Becky was a teacher in the Forest Hills School District for the majority of her career, and her love for teaching was equally matched by her love of children. She specialized in teaching reading to her students, but also taught Reading Recovery techniques to educators throughout the Tri-State area. She loved to sew, cook, and watch classic movies.
Friends may visit T.P. White & Sons Funeral Home, 2050 Beechmont Ave., Mt Washington on Thursday, June 3 from 5PM to 7PM. Funeral Services will be held on Friday June 4 at 9:30 at St Timothys Episcopal Church, 8101 Beechmont Ave., Anderson Township.
