Obituary for Robert Joseph Hodge

Robert J. Hodge "Bob" (85) of Cincinnati, Ohio, entered into the kingdom of Heaven on January 23, 2023 in Naples, Florida.

Bob was born to Joseph E. Hodge and Alberta M. Hodge (Oehler), on July 5, 1937, in St. Louis, Missouri.

While attending and graduating from Mercy High School and St. Louis University, Bob established life-long friendships that he always treasured. He was an avid runner, skier and golfer. His front doormat in Naples simply stated 'I Hope You Are Here to Play Golf!'

Bob is survived by his wife, Carmen (Villalobos), three children, Ralph (Tina), Bob, Carmen (Sean), ten grandchildren, Mitchell (Rachael), Gabrielle, Augustin (Ana), Danielle, Jonathon, Vanessa, Andrew, Sebastian, Veronica, Julia, and four brothers, Jerry (Sheila), James (Patricia), Jack (Joanne) and Larry (Joan).

Bob held many titles in his 40-year career in the supermarket industry while at the Kroger Co., Ralph's Grocery Co., and Dillon Cos, from management trainee, meat buyer and merchandiser, vice president, senior vice president, president of operations in Atlanta, St. Louis and Florida, to his retirement from the Kroger Co. at the end of January 2005 as president of the Cincinnati-Dayton Marketing area.

While Bob held many professional titles in his life his favorite roles were as a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather, and big brother to his four brothers. He loved nothing more than checking in with everyone to see how they were doing and if any help was ever needed, he made it clear that he was always available. His ability to sacrifice, provide and support will be forever engrained in his family and all he knew.

Additionally, Bob was deeply passionate about giving back to his faith and community. He was a tireless volunteer for Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Catholic Inner-City Schools Education (CISE), A Caring Place Pregnancy Help Center, Inc. (ACP), as well as numerous other organizations. Bob was truly a great man whose positive impact on each will be truly missed.

Bob's family will host a funeral service on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Anderson Township, 7820 Beechmont Avenue. Viewing will be from 9:30 am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am.
