Obituary for Sandra H. Jones
Sandra Helen Jones, age 86, passed away, December 6, 2021. She was born on November 15,1935 in Martins Ferry, Ohio to R. Morgan Jones and Helen B. Jones. In her passing, she leaves a brother, Richard Jones, sister-in-law, Carol Jones, nephew, Steven Jones (Cynthia), and niece, Margaret Schneider. In addition, she leaves grand-nephews, Alec and Sean Schneider.
Sandra graduated from Hughes High School and the University of Cincinnati. She also received a masters degree from the University of Cincinnati. Following college, she began a teaching career in the Cincinnati Public School system where she specialized in teaching math. She retired after 30 years of service. During her career, she received numerous awards for her excellence in teaching.
A special love in her life was golf. She became a talented player as a teen and was a stand-out golfer throughout her adult life. She won many tournaments at the Club, Local and State levels. Her most notable achievement was a victory in the 1973 Ohio State Ladies Amateur Tournament. She also had two runner-up finishes in that event. In addition to her playing career, she served on the boards of the Greater Cincinnati Ladies Golf Association and the Ohio Ladies Golf Association. She was recognized for her service to these two groups. As a result of her many achievements in golf, she was inducted into the Greater Cincinnati Legends of Golf.
Throughout her life, she was a lover of animals and cared for many cats as her pets. Sandra's family would like to thank the staff of SEM Haven for the wonderful care they provided to her for the past three years. Burial will follow private family services. T.P.
