Obituary for Sandra "Sandy" K. Thornton (nee Bosher)

Sandra "Sandy" Kay Thornton, beloved wife, mother, daughter, and friend died on May 13, 2023 after a valiant fight against breast cancer. Sandy was born July 15, 1981. She was a graduate of SUNY Potsdam, Crane School of Music and the University of Cincinnati, College Conservatory of Music. Sandy was a Grammy-nominated music educator and served many years in the Cincinnati Youth Choir as both a conductor and assistant artistic director. She also served as the Director of Traditional Music at Epiphany United Methodist Church. Sandy was a sought-after vocalist, clinician, and educator who sang with several Cincinnati area vocal ensembles. Her beautiful voice will be greatly missed. As much as Sandy loved music, her greatest love was her family and the adventures they shared together.

She is survived by her husband of almost fifteen years, and best friend, Kenneth Thornton as well as their three children Kieran, Garrett, and Elena. Her parents, Ken and Linda Prell, and sister, Rachel Prell, will continue to shine Sandy's light as they live on without her. Her sister-in-law, Heather Thornton-Young (Brandon) and niece, Erica, will miss her presence in their lives, especially long chats in the carpool line. Her namesake and godmother Sandy Craig (Bobby) and cousin, Kelli Anderson, will miss the fun weekends spent in each others company. She is also survived by her grandparents, Phil and Anne Prell, many aunts, uncles, and cousins, and Mike Bosher. Sandy had many friends that she considered family, and a special "framily" that will sorely miss sharing life with her.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Donald and Mary Chave, and her father-in-law, Kevin Thornton, as well as her grandmother, Joyce Bosher.

In her fight against cancer, Sandy was inspired by the absurdity of the bumblebee and its ability to fly despite the size of its wings in relation to the size of its body. Let us all remember the bumblebee and do something impossible every day.

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 20, 2023, at Epiphany United Methodist Church, 6635 Loveland-Miamiville Rd, Loveland, OH 45140. Public Visitation will be from 1-3 pm with the Celebration of Life starting at 3pm. Friends and Family are invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to http://www.metavivor.org to fund metastatic breast cancer research for others in Sandy's honor.
