Obituary for Sharon D. Baker

Sharon Davidson Baker, loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on Tuesday, April 27th, 2021 at age 68.

Sharon was born on May 2, 1952, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Denver and Evelyn (Davis) Davidson. Among her favorite memories growing up were the times she spent on her grandparents' farm in Jackson County, Kentucky, tending the animals, helping in the garden, and communing with nature as had many generations before her. She received her journalism degree from Eastern Kentucky University in 1975, and thereafter worked as a journalist and newspaper editor while raising daughters Harmony and Belinda.

Sharon had an avid love for music and was a talented singer-songwriter whose lovely falsetto rivaled that of Joni Mitchell. Due to the progression of her multiple sclerosis in the nineties, she turned from the world of work to the world of fine art, honing her skills as a pastel painter even as she struggled with weakness and tremors. Her determination and creative spirit produced an impressive collection of artwork of various mediums, and she leaves behind a stunning array of pieces for her loved ones to remember her by. Quite a stubborn lady, she enjoyed an independent life for much longer than would have been expected, often riding by wheelchair to her favorite shops in Old Milford where shopkeepers knew her by name, and occasionally venturing by bus to the Cincinnati Nature Center to enjoy the peace and beauty of the outdoors.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved daughter, Shara. She is survived by daughters Harmony and Belinda, granddaughter Melina, grandson River, sisters Sondra and Charlene, and brother Mitch. An informal visitation will be held on what would have been her 69th birthday, Sunday, May 2nd, 2021, at T.P. White & Sons Funeral Home, 2050 Beechmont Avenue, Mt. Washington, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Cincinnati Nature Center. www.tpwhite.com
