Obituary for Thomas Robert Fischer

Thomas Robert Fischer
January 28,1943 - February 3, 2019

“Tom was the kindest and most honorable person I know.”
“The truest gentleman I ever met.”
“He really was a good man. And God was he funny!”

These are the impressions he left upon neighbors, business associates, and friends. To his
family, his loving, giving and humorous soul - which has been a constant throughout their lives -
will truly be missed.

Thomas Robert Fischer was born January 28, 1943 to Walter and Mary Louise Fischer, the
second of four children (Mary Lou Doepker, and the late Joseph and Mark). A Cincinnati Boy
through and through, he attended Guardian Angels Grade School, Archbishop McNicholas High
School (Class of 1961) and University of Cincinnati (Class of 1967), where he earned his
degree in Electrical Engineering.

It was on school break when Tom met an Indiana girl named Carol Jean (née Pepper) by the
pool in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. After years of long drives for dates to Evansville and constant
letter correspondence, Tom and Carol married on September 16,1967.

Beginning his career at Cincinnati Milacron (where he earned a patent), Tom continued as a
Sales Engineer at Allen Bradley. Later, he founded Fischer Engineering, where he fostered
relationships with several associates and companies, and enjoyed his passion of Electrical
Engineering until the end. On the day of his passing, he was on his way to witness his grandson
in a robotics competition, taking pride and joy in passing his knowledge to another generation.
Tom loved his family, and they loved him in return. A beloved husband to Carol for 51 years, he
was a devoted father to Eric (Christina), Jason (Aimee), Sean and Ryan Fischer, grandfather to
Jack, Piper, Taelor, Victoria, Kimberly, and Nathan, and companion to his “Stupid” dog, Zoie (his
term of endearment). They will fondly remember his wonderfully dry sense of humor and wit,
nights of singing while playing Shanghai Rum, years of coaching soccer, basketball, volleyball,
chorus, science experiments and countless other endeavors his sons pursued, his dedication to
his mother, and dancing with his wife, his smile and laugh.

Thomas Fischer died February 3, 2019, but the memory and legacy of such a genuine, funny
and honorable man lives on in his wife, sons, grandchildren and all who were privileged to
know him.

Please come and join in a celebration of Tom’s life: Mass of Christian Burial at St. John Fisher
Church, 3227 Church St, Newtown, on Monday, February 11, 10am, with a lunch and gathering
of remembrance immediately following in Pater Hall (connected to the church). Friends may visit
at T. P. White & Sons Funeral Home, 2050 Beechmont Ave, Mt. Washington, on Sunday,
February 10th from 3 to 6pm. If desired, memorials may be directed to Shriners Hospital for
