Obituary for Thomas J. Myers

Thomas J. Myers, devoted husband and father, passed away on July 11, 2021 at the age of 86 in Cincinnati. Tom was born in Far Rockaway, NY and was a proud graduate of Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School in Brooklyn, NY and St. John's University in Queens, NY. Tom met his wife, Mary Ann McGuire, in 1965 on a cruise from NYC to the Bahamas. They married in November 1966 and enjoyed 55 years of marriage.

Toms career as an internal auditor for the Great American Insurance Company and the State of Kentucky Insurance Department transferred Tom and Mary Ann from their first home in Chatham, NJ to Los Angeles and then Cincinnati. Always a proud New Yorker, Tom came to love his adopted home of Cincinnati and all the strong friendships his family developed there. Despite the distance, Tom also maintained strong bonds with all his beloved East Coast family, making countless trips to visit and organizing many family reunions.

Tom was a devout Catholic and found genuine comfort in his faith. He was a member of Guardian Angels in Mount Washington and St. Rose in the East End.

Tom was also a dedicated sports fan, playing many sports himself and rooting on all his favorite teams, especially the Brooklyn Dodgers, Cincinnati Reds and Big East basketball. In retirement, Tom enthusiastically took the role of ticket taker for the Reds and Xavier Musketeers basketball.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Kathryn Myers. He was the beloved husband of Mary Ann Myers (nee McGuire), devoted father of Eileen (Michael) Alfieri and Patricia (Charles) Evans, loving grandfather of Ellie Kathryn Alfieri and Darby & Marlin Evans, and dear brother of Kathryn Johnston. Tom is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins, who affectionately called him Uncle Buddy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Rose Church on Friday, July 16th at 10 am. Friends may visit at the church on Friday from 9 to 10 am. The funeral mass will also be live streamed at strosecincinnati.org/live.
