Barbara L. Wray

Barbara Loraine Wray (nee Crosby) passed away after a brief illness on Monday, August 31, 2026 at the age of 87. She was born June 6, 1939, to the late Mary Frances (nee Quallen) and Ambrose Crosby, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Barbara was the beloved mother Kevin (Jacquie) Wray, Karen (Rich) Easley, David Wray and Eileen (Eric) Hay; grandmother of Kathyrn Easley, Kristina Bond (Easley), Kevin Easley, Richard Alan Easley, Jr. (dec'd), Christian Hay, Kelly Easley, Ethan Hay, Zacharias Wray; great-grandmother of Eleanor Bond, Beckett Bond, Ari Hay, Jacob Easley, Caiden Wray; dear sister of David (Patty) Crosby, Katie (Bob, dec'd) Ovies, Eileen (Joe) Aulick, the late Beth Crosby (Roy Verbrugge), John (Marsha) Crosby and Joan Crosby (George Williams).

Barbara grew up in Mt. Washington and went to Guardian Angels school and Archbishop McNicholas High School before attending nursing school. She later used her medical knowledge and fierce attention to detail skills to become known as "the Shark" in the medical records department at Mount Washington Care Center where she worked for over 35 years. She was also affectionally known as "the Hallmark Card Queen" for sending lots of cheer and a self-proclaimed "Chatty Cathy" for her friendly banter with people.

She was an avid reader, enjoyed counted cross stitch, sewing Christmas stockings and ornaments for her children and grandchildren, working crossword and jigsaw puzzles with her daughters and brother John, and mailing packages of goodies to her siblings.

She will be remembered for enjoying the simple things in life, a warm shower, a soft bed, a hot cup of coffee, unrushed phone conversations with family and friends and quiet prayer time in her chair facing a beloved picture of Jesus, the Good Shepherd, and a statue of Mary.

Barb believed all people have purpose and were given a mission by God. She tried her best to cooperate with His plan and place her trust in His goodness and mercy.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 7820 Beechmont Avenue (45255) on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at 10:30. Interment will be at Guardian Angels Cemetery directly following Mass. Family and friends are invited to continue the celebration of life for Barb at the home of Eileen and Eric Hay, 503 Park Place (45244).
