Gayle Dolores Schmidt

Gayle Dolores Schmidt (nee Grogan) died on August 24, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Schmidt was a native of Cincinnati and a graduate of Marian High School. She loved watching baseball and was a lifelong Cincinnati Reds fan. Mrs. Schmidt loved to travel with her husband and family, having visited 5 continents.

Mrs. Schmidt is preceded in death by her parents James Grogan and Lillian Grogan (nee Sauter), and her beloved husband of 31 years Donald S. Schmidt. She is survived by her daughters Erika El-Sawaf (Zach) and Jane Elizabeth "Liz" Schmidt (Moira), her grandchildren Camilla & Dalila El-Sawaf and Robin Pulitzer-Schmidt, her sister Lori Roberto (Jon), her brothers Tim Grogan and Mike Grogan (Virginia), and sister-in-law Carol Pennavaria (Charles), and was aunt to 5 nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Schmidt was a kind and selfless person, always putting the needs and wants of others ahead of her own. In that spirit, the family suggests for those wishing to make a memorial contribution to consider the Human Rights Campaign Foundation .

A celebration of her life will be held from 2 to 6 pm on Saturday, August 30th at The Ascent in the Club Level, 1 Roebling Way. Covington, KY 41011. Public parking is available directly across the street from The Ascent.
