Gerald William Miller Jr

Gerald William Miller Jr, 92, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2026 leaving behind a profound legacy of faith, family and hard work. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Gerald and Ethelreda Miller, Jerry grew up in a loving home, attending Catholic schools which culminated in earning a PhD in chemistry from Duquesne University. It was at Duquesne where he met the love of his life, Thomasine, to whom he was married for 65 years until her passing in 2023.

A proud US Army veteran, Jerry brought a relentless work ethic to everything he did starting with a paper route at age 6. After employment at Mobay, DuPont, Owens Illinois and Clopay, he founded HiTech Polymers which he ran until his retirement.

Guided by a deep Catholic faith, Jerry served the church in many capacities, including lecturer, Eucharistic minister, Stephens minister and Usher. He and Tommie lived a life of immense generosity with both their time and resources. Jerry's favorite day was Sunday as he loved attending mass and loudly singing hymns like A Mighty Fortress is our God.

Above all, Jerry was a devoted family man. He routinely started his workday early to ensure he was home for family dinner every night. He loved teaching his seven children, guiding them through home improvement projects, yard work and basic car maintenance, always prioritizing mentorship over speed.

Gerald was proceeded in death by his beloved wife, Thomasine, and three of his children: Michael, Paul and Sarah. He is survived by his children Michelle, Ellie, Martin and Andrew, as well as 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of Cincinnati, where Jerry served in multiple capacities for decades. May God grant him peace and perpetual light shine upon him.
