James "David" Seale, 82, died Sunday, October 5, 2025 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born July 31, 1943 in Shreveport, Louisiana, David was the son of Dr. and Mrs. Arthur Loid Seale (Ida Louise Floore Seale) and grew up in the Alexandria-Pineville area where his father was the superintendent of the Central Louisiana State Hospital. He graduated from Bolles School in Florida then attended Louisiana State University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History. He also honorably served in the Air Force Reserves.

For most of his life, David worked for the State of Louisiana in New Orleans, LA as a supervisor, training and educating adolescents and adults with physical and mental disabilities to help them live more enriching and fulfilling lives. With his former wife, Jane Seale, he also ran Holt's Unlimited which sold antiques and historical items. Later, he moved to Alexandria, LA to care for his father and then to Shreveport, LA, where he met and married Sharon Seale.

A passionate devotee of history, cartography, architecture, classical music and photography, David loved studying maps from around the world and learning and sharing the history of the locations with friends and family. Following in his father's footsteps, he was an avid photographer and would carry multiple camera on his travels throughout the country and world, often developing many of the photos himself. While living in New Orleans, he frequently attended the Louisiana Philharmonic, the New Orleans Museum of Art and was engaged with the Louisiana Historical Society. He was also a longstanding member of the Unitarian Universalist Churches in New Orleans and Shreveport, LA.

David will always be remembered for his kindness, prodigious memory, and enthusiasm in sharing his love and knowledge of the arts and world.

David Seale was preceded in death by his parents and both wives.
