In Loving Memory of Jane Vonder Haar

Jane Vonder Haar (née Voet), 85, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026 with her family by her side.

Born on July 2, 1941 and raised in Ft. Thomas, KY, Jane was one of seven children born to the late Harry and Harriet (née Meek) Voet. She was a proud graduate of Notre Dame Academy, Class of 1959. During her youth, she spent her summers as a funloving camp counselor at Camp Marydale in Erlanger, KY. She loved sports, and played softball, volleyball and was a lifeguard in the summers.

Jane's deep Catholic faith was the bedrock of her life. She spent time as a novice preparing to join the Sisters of Notre Dame, before discerning a different path and returning to lay life. She attended Edgecliff College, receiving a bachelor of Social Work in 1963.

While pursuing her studies, Jane met the love of her life, Mark. The two married in 1964 and shared 62 wonderful years of marriage, having five children. They built an active social life, great friends, and settled in Anderson Township to raise their family.

Jane was the heart of her home. She was a devoted stay-at-home mom, managing a bustling household with unconditional love, intention, and joy. She was deeply involved in her children's lives, always ready to play, lend a hand with schoolwork or enjoy the house full of the kids' friends.

Jane also had an eye for detail and was famous for her meticulous lists, planning events and menus weeks in advance, and adding her personal touch to every detail. Whether monogramming keepsakes, personalizing gifts, or proudly listing out the names of all 12 of her cherished grandchildren, Jane made sure everyone felt special.

Jane enjoyed hobbies like restoring antique wood furniture, re crafting decorative glass vase lamps, and designing beautiful wreaths. As her children grew, she went back to work as a social worker, dedicating her time to giving back and serving others in her community.

Faith and parish life were central to Jane and Mark. They were active, long-time parishioners at Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM), where Jane helped start the IHM athletic boosters program, coached girls' softball, and sent her children to school.

Jane's vibrant, outgoing nature earned her lifelong friendships throughout her 85 years. She was always up for a laugh, loved nothing more than reminiscing about the shenanigans of her kids and friends, and left behind an incredible legacy of love, warmth, and joy.

Jane was the beloved wife of Mark Vonder Haar and the loving mother of: Elizabeth "Beth" (Preston) Smith, John (Ingrid) Vonder Haar, Michael "Mike" (Cristi) Vonder Haar, Daniel "Dan" (Emily) Vonder Haar, Sally (Joseph) Albers.

She was the adored "Nini" to her 12 grandchildren: Libby, Jack, Thomas, Lucas, Carolina, Sofia, Christopher, Alexander, Anna, Baylee, Jeremy, and Jason.

Jane is survived by her brothers, Thomas Voet and Lawrence (Gayle) Voet; her sisters-in-law Peggy Frank and Barbara Beauchamp; and her brother-in-law Ted (Linda) Vonder Haar, along with many, many extended family members, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Harriet Voet; her sisters Mary (Frank) Rosing and Patricia (Don) Surnbrock; her brothers Harry (Mary Ann) Voet and James (Sarah) Voet; and her brothers-in-law Sidney Beauchamp and Thomas Frank.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish on Friday, 8/7 with a 9am visitation, 10am Mass and a reception immediately following the Mass. A private family interment will be held at Gate of Heaven cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Jane to the Alzheimer's Association or to Notre Dame Academy.
