Janet Cappel Parrott, 82, of Bethel, Ohio, passed away peacefully following a brief illness on July 19, 2026, with her loving family by her side.
Janet is survived by her beloved husband, John Parrott; her children, Ellen (Matt) Cool, Lucy (Scott) Blumer, and Josh (Jennifer) Parrott; her grandchildren, Max (Janine) Cool, Mason Cool, Zachary Blumer, Sarah Blumer, Jacob Blumer, Claire Stirsman, and Lydia Parrott; and her great-grandson, Atlas Cool.
Janet was the driving force of her family: a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose warmth, lively personality, and wonderful sense of humor made every family gathering brighter. Family and friends were at the center of her life, and she had a special gift for making people feel remembered, welcomed, and loved. She stayed connected with a wide circle of Facebook friends and even stayed in close contact with classmates she had known since the 1950s. Whenever family came to visit, Janet always made sure everyone's favorite dish was waiting for them.
Janet brought creativity, curiosity, and a sense of adventure to her children's lives. She studied at the Art Academy of Cincinnati before marrying and beginning her family, and her love of art remained an important part of who she was. She always had a fun art project ready for her children and encouraged them to explore, create, and use their imaginations. She also filled their childhoods with memorable outings and experiences that sparked a lifelong appreciation for learning, art, and the world around them.
Janet worked as a youth librarian at the Clermont County Public Library, where she was devoted to creating educational and recreational opportunities for children. She especially enjoyed leading storytime for children of all ages, and she developed award-winning Sidekicks, an intergenerational program that brought teenagers and senior citizens together.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, beginning at 9:30a.m. at Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, 6539 Beechmont Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45230. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30a.m.
