Jerry Duane Blankenbeker, age 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, leaving behind a legacy of quiet strength, kindness, and an unwavering devotion to those he loved.

Born in the small town of Gaston, Indiana, Jerry grew up learning the value of hard work, humility, and lending a hand whenever it was needed. Those lessons stayed with him throughout his life.

Jerry was a graduate of Gaston High School. Always fascinated with radio and television technology, Jerry attended Valparaiso Technical Institute in Valparaiso, Indiana where he earned a degree in radio and television engineering. Jerry built a 49-year-long career as a pioneer in television broadcasting at television stations in several states. His skill and expertise earned the respect of his colleagues in the industry, and he was named a lifetime member of the Society of Broadcast Engineers, Inc.

Jerry was a man of simple joys and was passionate about his interests. He was an active member of Anderson Hills Church. He found happiness meticulously tending his lawn and flower gardens, savoring his many favorite flavors of ice cream and candy treats, and lovingly documenting family and church events and occasions with his expert photography. Jerry had a way of making each person feel seen and valued, often with a few well-chosen words or reassuring smile. He will be remembered for his patience, quiet humor, and the many music CDs and video presentations he thoughtfully crafted.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Donna Blankenbeker. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Estelle; his daughter Lori Bruce (Jim); his son Steve (Wanda); grandchildren Charlie Bruce (Danielle), Katie Wood (Edward), Chad Blankenbeker (Sarah), and great-grandchildren Connor, Cooper, Cott, Evie, Flossy, and Martha. He is also survived by his sister Marjorie Childs and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral Service will be held on April 21 at 10AM at Anderson Hills Church (7515 Forest Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45255). Friends may visit the church from 9-10AM. A chapel service will be held at 2PM at Gardens of Memory Cemetery (10703 IN-3, Muncie, IN 47303) with burial immediately following.
