John J Iglar, age 90, of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away peacefully on June 5, 2024. Beloved husband of the late Irma, nee Ridzon. Loving father of John (Donna) and Karen (Robert) Loveland. Adored grandfather of Maggie Rose (Sam) Fiedorek, Emily and Sarah Iglar, Jack and Grace Loveland. John was born June 21,1933 in Hamilton, Ontario to the late Caroline and John Iglar and was preceded in death by his younger brother, Edward Iglar.
Growing up on a tobacco farm, John loved gardening and proudly maintained an extensive vegetable and flower garden for many years. He also enjoyed sports and excelled in basketball, football and boxing in High School and College. After graduating from Delhi High School in 1954, he went on to earn a Chemical Engineering Degree at the University of Toronto.
John's first job out of College was in Hamilton Ontario at the Proctor & Gamble Soap and Detergent Plant. This led to several lifetime friendships and a thriving 33-year career with the P&G Industrial Chemical Division. As a loyal "P&G man" John excelled in various roles within the company in Canada and in Westfield, New Jersey where he managed the Chemical Sales Team. Eventually moving to Corporate Headquarters in Cincinnati, where many of his colleagues became dear friends.
John met the love of his life, Irma in 1953, while in high school. During their 64-year marriage they travelled extensively and spent every summer at their beloved Cottage in Canada amidst friends, loved ones, relatives and their children, John and Karen.
John was especially fond of coaching John Jr in several of his sports teams including little league football, baseball and basketball. He taught both children (and Irma) how to snow ski, water ski, sail and golf.
John retired in 1988 and not one to sit idle, enjoyed daily workouts and comradery at the local Health Club, became an avid golfer and an excellent racquetball player. When he wasn't spending time with family, he was volunteering his time with numerous projects at Guardian Angels Parish and providing tax return services for the underprivileged.
John led a full life, touching the hearts of many with his kindness, generosity, integrity, and character. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. May John's soul rest in eternal peace.
