John was born on November 8, 1944 in Cincinnati, Ohio to JP and Mary (Muchmore) Morgan.
JP served in the Navy during WWII and did not meet his son until he was nine months old.
John, the oldest of four boys, grew up in Bulterville, Ohio. He spent much of his time at his
grandparent's farm where he developed a love for hunting, fishing and all things outdoors.
John entered the workforce right out of high school with a job at Cincinnati Milling Machine.
He transitioned into the heating and air industry, eventually moving into building and property
management for WLW-T in Cincinnati.
Johnny met the love of his life, Patty, in 1963 when he challenged her to a drag race on some
rural roads. While we're not sure who actually won, they went on to win each other's hearts
and married March 14, 1964. They welcomed their son Ryan in 1975.
John, Pat and Ryan moved to New Richmond, Ohio in 1980. Johnny quickly became active in
the community. They welcomed all of Ryan's friends and friends of friends into their home
regularly, feeding them Johnny's famous biscuits and gravy (b's and g's) for breakfast and
steaks for dinner, giving them light-hearted advice and supporting them in various sports. John
later became a member of the New Richmond Liar's Club which connected him with the
American Legion's Youth Christmas Program. His greatest joy came from interacting with the
kids in the program while shopping with them for their gifts. Johnny was known for stuffing a
few extra dollars into the kid's bags of gifts.
Despite moving away from farm life, John continued his love of the outdoors, adding camping
and boating to his passions. He often went on hunting trips with buddies all over the country.
When he wasn't doing things with the New Richmond community, John spent extensive time in
Florida with his mother, Mary, after his father passed. He would take her and her friends on
outings to other parts of Florida, often getting them settled and then slipping away to fish on his
own.
The family began visiting Norris Lake in the early '90's, first renting and then eventually
purchasing property in Deerfield Resort. This became John's happy place, where he made
many friends and spent much time exploring the lake and fishing his favorite spots. Over the
years, as more of his brother's families also enjoyed the lake, many wonderful memories were
made with the Morgan family and the many friends who visited. Lake life became a way of
living for John.
John's memory will be kept alive by his wife Pat (Patton), son Ryan, daughter-in-law Jill (Voet),
granddaughter Reese and grandson Jack; brothers Richard (Phyllis), Gary (Terri), Jeffery
(Barbi), and brother-in-law David (Karen) Patton. He will always be Uncle Johnny to his nieces
and nephews Michelle (Fred) Brink, Kelly (Jamie) Cordell, Brent (Amy), Jason (Emily), Marci
(Ben) Cox, and Brad (Jenny) and many great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his
Aunt Fern and many cousins. John was proceeded in death by his parents, JP and Mary
Morgan.
Johnny touched many lives and was a friend to all who knew him.
