John V. Munafo, Sr., age 70 of Pierce Twp., passed away surrounded by his family on October 18, 2026. A man committed to family; John was well known for his work ethic, kindness and his incredible way of fostering community. He was a faithful husband, a devoted father, a loving grandfather, and leaves behind a legacy of love, strength and compassion for others.
He was the beloved husband of Linda Munafo (nee Berger), proud father of John (Jennifer) Munafo Jr., James Munafo, JoAnna (Andrew) Schroeder, and Jessica Munafo; cherished grandfather of Mallory, Victoria, Maria, Elizabeth, Kaitlyn Munafo and Jacqueline Schroeder; loving son of the late Theresa and Nicholas Munafo, Sr., dear brother of the late Nick Munafo, Jr. who is survived by his wife Pat, Rosalie (Ron) Jackson-McCay, Chris (Melissa Manion) Munafo, Mark (Cindy) Munafo, Steve (Angie Henderson) Munafo, and Maria (Mark) Trimbach. John is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
John attended St. Gabriel Primary School and graduated from Roger Bacon High School.
For the entirety of his career, he worked alongside his family in continuing the success of the Munafo family business of grocery stores across Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, with the Bethel, OH storefront as his headquarters. He also spent decades coaching baseball and softball teams—combining his avid love of sports and guiding mentorship for his children and their friends. In retirement, you could easily find him cheering on and supporting his granddaughters’ events or driving around on his John Deere. In all his endeavors, his wife Linda stood steadfast by his side.
John was a parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. He had an easy way of bringing a smile to those around him and people would gravitate towards his laugh. Always one to share stories, quick to lend a hand, and generous in his time, John leaves an utterly profound gap in our hearts with his passing.
Visitation will be held at T.P. White & Sons Funeral Home, 2050 Beechmont Ave., Mt.
