Jonathan R. Cline

May 14, 1980 — September 20, 2023

Jonathan Richard Cline, 43, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, leaving a deep hole in the lives of everyone he touched. Jon was born on May 14, 1980 to Michael and Paula Cline (deceased) in Lexington, KY, and grew up in the heart of horse racing in Versailles, KY.

During his youth and high school years, he was an exceptional athlete, competing at the highest level of baseball as a young man, earning a full-scholarship to the University of Virginia. Although sidelined by an injury and unable to play, he donated his scholarship back to the team and continued with his studies at UVA, where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity and the Eli Banana Society. He graduated from the University of Virginia in 2002 and found his first job in Cincinnati in the pallet industry.

The pallet industry led him to meet the love of his life, wife Mandy, who he met because her sister happened to work for Jon. Jon and Mandy shared nearly 15 years of marriage, and 18 years as a couple. They had many adventures together, including moving to Houston, TX, many travels, making many friendships, and finally their most special adventure, raising sons Charlie (12) and Mikey (8).

Jon had many passions the UK Wildcats, the Cincinnati Bengals, gambling, but most of all, Jon had a colossal passion for collecting baseball cards. If you didnt see him at a show, he was always at a shop wheeling and dealing, and making friends with anyone who shared his passion. He was generous, always offering kids who were new to collecting great deals on cards to get their collections started.

Jon was a big presence both in stature, his loud, booming voice, and his amazing laugh. He loved his family and friends fiercely and was the most loyal person you could know. He wasnt aware of how many lives he touched and how deeply he was loved and admired by all who had the special privilege of knowing him.
