Josephine (Jo) Rose Ciampa

Josephine Rose Ciampa (nee Desio) passed away on 12/14/23 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She and her husband had been long time residents of Naples, Florida and Cincinnati, Ohio before returning full time to Cincinnati.

She was born in 1932 in Boston, Ma. to parents Mary and Benjamin Desio. She had two brothers, Anthony and Peter Desio along with one sister Tina Rosso (Vito).

Jo was married to Robert Frank Ciampa, her high school sweetheart. His military history, serving with both the Army and Air Force, required the family to move multiple times to locations across the nation and internationally. The family ultimately settled in Oxford, Ohio, home of Miami University. There, Jo found employment at Miami's 1809 Room as assistant banquet manager for 10 years. Many dignitaries visiting the University, along with University officials were hosted there for dining experiences that she helped to orchestrate.

She then moved on to employment in Cincinnati, which was a substantial commute from Oxford. She was employed by ARA at the Ford Transmission Plant in Sharonville for many years in catering.

Jo and Bob welcomed five children into their world. Deborah, Karen Boppel (Karl), Jayne Marsico (Daniel), Patty D'Arcy (Bill Beglin), & Robert (Lisa). She was the proud grandmother of Kris Boppel (Paige), Andrew Boppel (Hannah), Melanie Boppel, Ashley DArcy (Luiza Dale), Danielle DArcy, Maria and Marco Ciampa, Catie Hohman (Jonathan) & Cassandra Rupel (Nick). Great Grandchildren included Bowen & Blake Boppel, Hadley & Ella Boppel, Emmett Hohman, and Jioni Harris.

Jo was also blessed to have enjoyed a very special and enduring lifetime friendship with Bob and Joyce Schloesser of Augusta, Ga.

Jo was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her sister Tina Rosso, brother Anthony, daughter in law Lisa Ciampa and grandchildren Joseph and Anthony Marsico.

A service will be held privately for the family. Internment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, Ohio.
