Kathleen Louise McGraw (née Cappel), age 81, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Sarasota, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2025.
Kathy was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Harmeyer McGraw and a devoted mother to three children: Pam (Dan) Bohan, Katie (Mike) Albanese, and Brian (Bridget) McGraw. She took immense pride and joy in her growing family, especially her nine grandchildren: Tate (Mary) Bohan, Drew (Rebecca) Bohan, Hudson Bohan, Bennett, Ryan, and Colin Albanese, and Evan, Alice, and Amelia McGraw. Kathy was also blessed with three great-grandchildren- Brooks, Cece, and Weston- with a fourth expected soon.
She was a loving sister to Judy Justice (the late Jack), Mike Cappel (Anne), and the late Linda Merritt (George).
Born on September 29, 1943, in Kenwood, Ohio, Kathy was the daughter of Louis and Marjorie (née Gebhart) Cappel. She attended St. Vincent Ferrer School in Kenwood, graduated from Regina High School, and continued her studies at the University of Cincinnati.
Throughout her life, Kathy formed lasting friendships in many cities across the country, as she and Joe relocated often due to his corporate career. She had a remarkable gift for turning each new house into a warm and welcoming home for her family. Her outgoing personality and genuine warmth immediately put others at ease in any social setting.
In retirement, she split her time between Cincinnati and Sarasota, enjoying an active lifestyle filled with golf, long walks, and volunteer work with organizations such as Hospice and Meals on Wheels.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, located at 7820 Beechmont Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45255. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 9:00 a.m., until the time of service.
A reception will follow immediately after the ceremony at Coldstream Country Club, 400 Asbury Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45255.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Kathy's name to Grace Hospice: 4435 Aicholtz Road, Cincinnati, OH 45245 (checks or money orders) or to The Alzheimer's Association www.alz.org.
Kathy will be remembered for her kindness, compassion, unwavering faith, and deep love for her family and friends.
