Lawrence (Larry) Edward Ketterer, 84, most recently of Fairborn, Ohio passed away at the home of his dear daughter and caregiver Carol on May 24, 2026 surrounded by loving family and his beloved dog Mariah, who never left his side in his final illness. Larry was born May 2, 1942 to Chester and Dorothea Ketterer (nee Hennessy). He married Nancy Ketterer (nee Vogel) on September 29, 1973 and they were together 51 years, until her passing. He and Nancy have 3 children, David Wayne Ketterer (Terri), Carol Ann Naylor (Gary), and Richard Alan Ketterer, 3 grandchildren, Daniel Ketterer, Robert Ketterer (Roseanna), and Michael Naylor (Ariane), and two great grand children, Alexandra Aristotle Ketterer Benjamin and Everett Dean Naylor, who was just born on April 22, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is also survived by a sister, Cheryl Mooney (Bob). He was also devoted to his dogs and loved many over the course of his life.
Larry was born in Hannibal, Missouri and at various times in his life resided in St. Louis, MO, Cincinnati, OH, Falmouth and Cumberland, ME and finally Centerville and Fairborn, OH. Larry was a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis for both his Bachelors and Masters degrees and spent his lengthy career in Computer Science. He prided himself on always keeping current in his constantly changing field. Just some of the many projects he worked on in his career were the development of the first self checkouts for the Hannaford's grocery chain in the Northeast and the original OnStar technology. In their time In Cincinnati, Larry and Nancy were very active members of Mt Washington Presbyterian Church.
Per Larry's wishes, there will be no funeral service but memorial gifts to your local SPCA are gratefully appreciated.
