Matthew "Matt" John Haney, 63, of Cincinnati, beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 5, 2025. Born on September 14, 1961, in Conneaut, Ohio, he is the son of Mary (McKee) Haney and the late James Q. Haney. In 1986, Matt moved to Cincinnati, where he earned a business degree from the University of Cincinnati. Matt met his wife, Kathleen, in 1988. They were married for 34 wonderful years. In 1990, Matt and his brother Dan co-founded Haney Inc., a packaging business they nurtured and grew into a thriving company over the next 35 years. Matt's life was marked by his faith and deep love for family and friends. He enjoyed golf and travel, and took pride in caring for his yard. His warmth, optimism, and good cheer will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Matt was preceded in death by his father, James Haney. In addition to his wife, Kathleen, he is survived by his mother, Mary Haney, his siblings: James Haney, Beth (Dave) Kammerer, Laura (Jim) Modzelewski, Dan (Terry) Haney, Ellen (Erick) Harback and Mary Driscoll, his children: Julianne (Tom) Lawler and Michael Haney, and his granddaughter, Violet Anne Lawler.
Visitation will be held Sunday, July 13, 2025 from 2:00-4:00 PM at TP White & Sons Funeral Home, 2050 Beechmont Avenue, Cincinnati, 45230. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, July 14, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 7820 Beechmont Avenue, Cincinnati, 45255. Burial at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery immediately following the Mass.
