Paul Dinwiddie, 82, of Batavia, Ohio, passed away on July 1, 2026, surrounded by family. Born in Cincinnati to David and Matilda Dinwiddie, Paul was a proud graduate of Roger Bacon High School. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in management and psychology from Antioch University. Paul dedicated 25 years of service to Xavier University’s Information Technology Department before retiring.
He was married to his beloved wife Connie for 54 years. Together, they raised their four children David (Michelle), Michelle Sandlin (Rick Fukano), Suzette Spears (Matthew), and Monique Wilson (Dwayne) in Goshen, Ohio. After a brief period living in Yellow Springs, Paul returned to Cincinnati. Paul was also proud grandfather to Benjamin Sandlin, Jacob Dinwiddie, Jack and Wyatt Spears, and great-grandfather to Novalee and Raelyn.
Paul was an active and devoted member of his community. He was a Mason, a member of the Goshen Township Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association and belonged to the Brookville Anglers for many years. Known as a lifelong learner, he loved traveling, adventure, flying as a pilot, fishing, and collecting cars, among other passions.
He embraced his Scottish heritage with great pride, often sharing stories of his visits to Scotland, the Dinwiddie legacy, and lifelong friends he made there. Paul was affectionately known as the “Hardware Legend” for his part-time work at Ace Hardware in Dillonvale, and family and friends cherished his famous chili recipe. He enjoyed a very full cup of coffee with cream and two sweeteners declaring recently that Mad Llama in Madisonville was his favorite. His warm, friendly nature meant he never met a stranger, and he was well-loved for his humor and kindness. Many of his children’s friends remarked on how “awesome” Paul was whenever they met him.
Paul was preceded in death by his brother, James Dinwiddie (Carol), and sister, Laverne Diesel (Tom). He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who will forever remember his adventurous spirit and loving heart.
