Raymond "Ray" L. Phillips

Raymond "Ray" Lee Phillips, 80, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on September 6, 2026. Ray is the devoted husband of 57 years to Louise (Rutenschroer) Phillips; devoted father to David (Barbara) Phillips and Tracy (Ian) Pappenheimer; dear grandfather to Rachel, Claire and Anna Pappenheimer, Hannah (Dakota) Kirtley, and Alex House and great grandfather to Carter Kirtley. Ray, the cherished son of the late Warder H. and Estella (Butts) Phillips, was born in Cincinnati, OH on January 20, 1946. Ray is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Ray attended Madisonville Elementary School, Western Hills High School and the University of Cincinnati. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1968. Ray served in ROTC and was a member of Delta Sigma Pi fraternity. Following graduation from UC he proudly served his country on active duty as a member of the United States Army in the Adjutant General Corps as a First Lieutenant from 1969-1971. During this time, he was the Chief Notification and Survivor Assistance Officer and in charge of Congressional inquiries in Ft. Rucker, Alabama. After his honorable discharge he worked for Senco Products/Sencorp for 34 years, retiring as Chief Financial Officer. In 1994 he completed the Executive MBA program at Xavier University receiving his Master of Business Administration.

Ray was a dedicated and active family man who cherished the time he spent with his family and friends. He was happiest surrounded by the people he loved, whether at home, traveling, or enjoying family vacations and adventures together. A longtime Cincinnati Reds, Cincinnati Bengals, and UC Bearcats fan, Ray loved sports in every way. He enjoyed participating in sports and sharing his passion for athletics through coaching, touching the lives of countless children and families in Anderson Township where he was a resident for 48 years. He dedicated his time to coaching youth baseball, softball, soccer, and basketball, leaving a lasting impact on the community and the many young athletes he encouraged along the way. Ray was a devoted advocate for his children, always supporting, encouraging, and standing up for them. He took pride in staying active and involved. He loved dogs, enjoyed landscaping, home projects, and loved to play golf, spending countless hours on the course enjoying the game, the competition, and the friendships that came with it. He was dependable, hardworking, and guided by strong integrity. Ray was someone others could always count on. Above all, he treasured his family and the many friendships he built throughout his life, leaving behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and generosity.

Services will be held at Anderson Hills Church on Monday, September 14, 2026 with visitation at 10:00 AM until the time of the service begining at 11:30 AM. After the church service family and friends are invited to Arlington Memorial Gardens Cemetery for burial with full military honors.
