Robert "Bob" G. Bartheld passed away October 17, 2026, from natural causes, days before his 97th birthday. Born October 20, 1929, in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, he was the son of Alvin W. Bartheld and Margaret (Williams) Bartheld. Bob graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1951. After courting Nancy E. Hanson, in part by taking her sailing on Lake Onalaska on a boat he built himself, they married on June 6, 1953.

He served in the U.S. Army at Fort Detrick, Maryland, before working for Siemens Energy & Automation for 41 years, including as manager of engineering at its division (then Allis-Chalmers) in Norwood, Ohio, and as manager of technology transfer in Alpharetta, Georgia. He holds seven patents. Throughout his career he helped develop international motor standards, attending his first meeting as a U.S. delegate in 1973. This activity, for various associations, took him around the world. He and Nan traveled extensively, the source of many abiding and happy memories together.

Bob was resolute in his beliefs and a rock of support to his family. When his sons were teens, and as an Eagle Scout himself, he led the scout troop at Mount Washington Presbyterian Church, where he was a proud member for 70 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife. Surviving are his daughter Margo Bartheld and sons Brad Bartheld (Ann) and Eric Bartheld, and grandchildren Matthew Bartheld (Katie) and Kristen Bartheld.

The family expresses its gratitude to Cynthia Thomas for her kindness and care during his final years.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider making a memorial contribution to the Mount Washington Presbyterian Church or the Cincinnati Nature Center in his honor.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
