Robert "Bob" Dean Crawford

January 7, 1936 — August 22, 2025

Houston, TX.

Robert Dean Crawford (Bob), aged 89, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025. Beloved husband of the late Brenda Ann Crawford, to whom he was married for 55 years. He was the devoted father of Bradley (Tina), Stephen (Kim), and Kevin (Lori) Crawford, loving grandfather of Katie (Nathan) Templeton, Francie, Josie, Jackson Crawford (Bradley & Tina), Kristi (Ryan) Strauser, Kaitlyn Crawford (Stephen and Kim), Kelsey (Rick) Lane, Maddy and Rachel Crawford (Kevin and Lori), and loving great-grandfather to Paxton and Shepherd Lane and Sophia Strauser.

Born on January 7, 1936, and raised in Sikeston Missouri, Bob was a 1957 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University. During his college years he was a frequent performer in many theater productions, active in his fraternity, and student government, including a term as Student Body President his senior year. In addition, he served as a member of the US Naval Reserve during college, and worked as a disc jockey at KFVS radio, where he was known as “The Man with the Golden Voice.”

Bob joined Proctor & Gamble after college, and he and Brenda were married in 1959. He enjoyed an amazing 38 year career at the Proctor & Gamble Company, culminating in his position as Director of Professional Relations, Managing P&G’s relationship with national dental organizations and responsible for Proctor & Gamble’s funding of dental research to organizations and universities nationwide.

Always competitive, he bowled, played tennis and golf, generally focusing on one sport until he had reached the best of his abilities. Of all his interests, playing bridge was the most constant, and one where he continually worked to improve his game. He achieved the American Contract Bridge League rank of Life Master in 1974, improving to a Bronze Life Master in 2017 and a Silver Life Master in 2020. In his later years, he shared this passion, holding classes to teach bridge to residents of Eagle’s Trace, where he lived.

Bob was an avid Cincinnati Bengals football fan, having been a season ticket holder from 1968 to 2010, and could still be seen in the fall sporting his bright orange Bengals sweatshirt on game days. He also enjoyed singing, and frequently performed karaoke for his follow residents at Eagle’s Trace, singing Frank Sinatra tunes.

Since moving to Houston in 2011, he was an active member of Tallowood Baptist Church, and had many friends there with whom he socialized and studied scripture.

Bob left an amazing legacy, rising from humble beginnings in rural Missouri to put himself through college, have a successful and accomplished career at Proctor & Gamble, enjoy a wonderful marriage to the love of his life for 55 years and raise a happy and successful family. He will be remembered and missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held at Tallowood Baptist Church, 555 Tallowood Rd, Houston, TX 77024, on Monday, September 8th, at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that memorials be directed to the Alzheimer's Association .
