Robert Louis Dwyer Jr. (Bob), 87, of Cincinnati, OH, husband of the late Mary Audrey Dwyer, passed away peacefully surrounded by all six of his children on July 11, 2026. A beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, Bob will always be remembered for his love for his family and the tender and constant care he provided his wife during her final years.
Born November 28, 1938, Bob was the oldest of three sons of Robert Louis Dwyer Sr. and Mary Jane Martin. Bob grew up in Cincinnati and Dayton. He graduated from Purcell High School and the Technical Institute at the University of Dayton in 1960, playing football for both schools. He then married his wife of 63 years, Audrey. Bob worked for the Cincinnati Ventilating Company before starting his own steel fabrication company, Dwyer Industries, which he ran for forty years. Bob was a Navigator in the Air Force during the Cold War and was part of a front-line strike force ready to be deployed during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Bob was an avid duck hunter and fisherman and went on trips regularly with his childhood buddy Tom Winstel.
Bob's greatest passion was his family. He loved to go to South Carolina with the whole family and enjoyed clam chowder and fresh oysters. Bob also loved to cook for his family and established Sunday family dinners. Everyone was always welcome and attended. Even in his later years when he no longer cooked, we had Sunday family dinners. He attended his final dinner the week he passed.
Bob is survived by his six children and their families: Kathleen (Steve Nance) Dwyer, Colleen (Chris) Markesbery, Elizabeth (Kurt) Platte, Margaret (Todd Hoffpauir) Dwyer, Sheila (Cary) Stier, and Robert (Leigh Ann) Dwyer and his grandchildren: Laura, Theresa, Joe, Shannon, Sean, Sydney, Nick, Gabby, Elena, CJ, Hanna, Elizabeth, Daniel and Delaney. Bob is also survived by a great granddaughter: Audrey Louise.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Audrey and great grandson Brady Thomas Arlinghaus, as well as his parents Robert and Mary Jane Martin, and his brothers Thomas and James.
Visitation will be 9:00 am-11:00 am at TP White & Sons Funeral Home, 2050 Beechmont Avenue, Mt. Washington, on Saturday July 25, 2026. A graveside service will immediately follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 11000 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati at 12:00 pm
The family would like to say a special thank you to the nurses of the Cardiac ICU at Mercy Hospital Anderson, who so tenderly cared for Bob in his final hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
