Bob Huninghake, age 85, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026 surrounded by his family.
Born on July 20, 1940 in Cincinnati, Bob lived a life marked by sincerity, sharp intelligence, and a wonderful sense of humor. He was the person you could always go to for advice-thoughtful, honest, and usually right. His quick wit and steady presence made all those around him feel comfortable.
Bob excelled in his newspaper advertising sales and management career. His dedication, insight, and people skills earned him lasting respect. Outside of work, he was just as skilled with his hands as he was with words. Whether fixing, building, or figuring something out, Bob took pride in doing things well and doing them right.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, Bob found his greatest joy in his family, and on the golf course. When not golfing, he offered guidance (only when asked), and loved sharing stories, which inevitably brought the house down with a laugh. His sincerity, humor, and practical wisdom left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He was preceded in death by parents Elmer and Mary Huninghake (nee Scanlon), his sister Elaine Plogman, and his son-in-law Mike Magness. He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Janet Huninghake (nee Kellogg), his daughters Julie Magness, and Susan (Don) Kamphaus; his grandchildren Robert (Rachel) Magness, Sarah (Eric) Murphy, Allie (Ryan) Kamphaus and Will Kamphaus; his great-granddaughters Ellie and Hailey Magness. He was also survived by brothers, Gary (Nancy) Huninghake and Bruce (Chris) Huninghake, and many nieces and nephews.
Bob's legacy is one of laughter, sound advice, hard work, and a life well lived.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026 at 10:00AM at St. John Fisher Catholic Church, 3227 Church Street, Cincinnati, OH 45244. Friends may visit the church on Friday from 9:00-10:00AM.
