With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Sharyn Bookout (nee Berger) on September 23, 2026.
Born July 28, 1946, in Mariemont, Sharyn will be remembered for her extraordinary strength and resilience, her devotion to raising her three sons, and her proud achievement of going back to school in her fifties to obtain her Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) degree.
Sharyn went on to spend the final nine years of her nursing career working for Hospice of Cincinnati. There, she provided exceptional end-of-life care, comforting and supporting hundreds of patients and their families during their most difficult moments.
Sharyn had a true green thumb and loved spending time in her garden. She was a big animal lover who adored her dogs and cats, and she always looked forward to trips to the ocean and vacationing in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Sharyn was preceded in death by her parents, Robert, and Ruth Berger; her brothers, Jerry, and Richard Berger; her sister, Mary Denise Evans; her husband, Fred Bookout; and her son, Eric Niemann.
She is survived by her sons, Adam (Loriel), and Joshua Niemann; her brothers, Dave, and Mark Berger; and her grandchildren, Logan Johnson, Jack Niemann, Josephine Niemann, and Gabriel Niemann.
Her family honors her legacy with a final promise: "We carry Mom forward with a promise: to stick together and protect one another until we meet again. She remains our steady anchor."
