Susan Stai

Susan Stai, born February 15, 1959 in Seattle, Washington, passed away on July 7, 2026 at the age of 67, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She is survived by her son Timothy Zureick, sister Hilary Stai, brother Bradley Stai, and many loving and devoted friends.

Susan was a visionary early childhood educator, a deeply devoted mother, and a fierce advocate for justice. Throughout her life, Susan was a force of nature who lived by the conviction everyone - regardless of their background or circumstance - deserved dignity, respect, and a voice. She never hesitated to call out injustice wherever she saw it.

Her courage in speaking truth to power left an indelible mark and inspired others to stand a little taller. That same passion fueled her long career in early childhood education. As an innovative educator, Susan didn't just teach; she transformed. She recognized that the earliest years of a child's life are the most critical, and she dedicated herself to creating groundbreaking programs that nurtured young minds. She believed quality education was a fundamental right, and her advocacy shifted landscapes.

Yet, of all the titles she held and all the battles she fought, her favorite and most cherished role was being a mother. The fierce love she poured into her work was multiplied tenfold for her son Tim. He was her greatest joy and her proudest achievement.

Her legacy of radical empathy, unyielding voice, and profound love will live on in the hearts of her family and the dearly beloved friends who stood by her side.
