Thomas M. Armstrong, age 86, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025. Beloved husband of Patricia A. Armstrong, Tom was the cherished father to Kelley Young, Karen (Daniel) Kunkel, and Kim (Mickey) Armstrong. He was the proud grandfather of Jared, Nate, Taylor, Katherine, Ali, and Ian, and a dear brother to Dan. Tom is preceded in death by his siblings Jim, Jerry, and his sister Pat.
Born in Detroit, MI, Tom graduated with an engineering degree, though his professional journey led him into the insurance industry and CPA accounting. His career prompted relocations to Minnesota and California, before he settled in Cincinnati, OH, where he, Pat, and their family have resided for the past 51 years.
Known for his sense of humor, contagious laughter, and charm, Tom couldn't get enough of sports and staying active. Whether playing football as a young adult, engaging in golf or tennis, or simply working out at the YMCA, he remained active up until a month before his passing. A sports enthusiast, Tom was particularly passionate about Xavier basketball and the Michigan Wolverines, always cheering, "Go Blue!" Of course, he loved nothing more than an ice-cold beer and hamburger to fulfill a good day.
Beyond sports, Tom was celebrated for his love of dance, often taking center stage to perform the YMCA dance with great flair. A devoted Catholic, Tom dedicated much of his life to his faith and community. He was deeply involved with the Immaculate Heart of Mary (IHM) community for over 52 years and was instrumental in forming the Knights of Columbus within IHM.
Tom's legacy of faith, family, and friendship will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. He leaves behind a lasting impression of love, laughter, and the importance of togetherness.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association Cincinnati Chapter at Alz.org or the American Heart Association at www.heart.org in Tom's honor.
