Thomas "Tom" J. Mitchell, 76, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on April 8, 2026 surrounded by the love of his family. He leaves behind his wife, Mary "Jody" Mitchell; his daughter, Elizabeth "Beth" Bruner (née Mitchell) and her husband, Kyle; and his cherished granddaughter, Colette "Lettie" Bruner, who brought him endless joy.

A skilled mason by trade, he built far more than walls. He built a life defined by hard work, loyalty, and generosity. Tom served his country with honor in Vietnam, carrying with him both the weight of that experience and the deep pride of having served.

Tom had a lifelong love of motorcycles and an unmatched enthusiasm for exploring the country on two wheels. He had a deep knowledge of maps, backroads, and hidden routes across the United States, and he delighted in sharing that knowledge with fellow riders. Friends and family knew him as the person who would show up whenever needed. His good deeds were countless and often quiet, done simply because helping others was part of who he was.

He had a gentle, captivating way of telling stories, full of warmth, humor, and the kind of details that made those close to him lean in and listen. His stories of good times, old friends, and small adventures had a way of bringing people together, and those who loved him will carry those moments with them.

Tom also had a unique tradition that became one of his most memorable gestures. He loved to share $2 bills with everyone including family, friends, servers at restaurants, neighborhood children, and even complete strangers. He loved offering something a little unusual, a small surprise meant to brighten someone's day. It was his quiet way of spreading joy, one simple, special bill at a time.

Above all, he was a devoted grandfather. Lettie was the light of his later years, and he embraced every moment with her, from small everyday joys to the milestones that meant the world to him.

He will be remembered for his strength, his kindness, his humor, and his dedication to those he loved. His legacy lives on in the family he adored and the many lives he touched.
