Obituary for Oather "Gene" Meese

Meese, Oather "Gene" passed away in his sleep on Sun. Dec. 24, 2017 at 94 years. He was retired from Western Electric after 40 years and a veteran in the US Army Air Corps during WW II. He was based out of England and was a tail gunner on a B17 bomber and was shot down after a successful mission over Poland on Easter in 1944. Gene was captured in Denmark and transported back to the prisoner of war camp in Austria for 15 months and was released on May 3, 1945. He was forced to march back to Germany when they were liberated by General George Patton's troops. Gene was a well liked man and a role model to everyone in his life. He was born and raised in Plainville, OH and graduated from Mariemont High School. Gene was the husband of the late Pauline "Polly" Meese (nee Griner), dear brother of Ruth Nester, Harry Dennis, Donald, the late Gale, William Meese, and Patricia Shepler, also survived by several nieces and nephews. Service at T P WHITE & SONS Funeral Home 2050 Beechmont Ave. Mt. Washington on Fri. Dec. 29, at 10:30 AM with the Batavia Masonic Lodge #104 F&AM and Scottish Rite Ring service at the funeral home on Fri. Friends may visit on Fri. from 9:30-10:30 AM. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
