Beth’s spirit is finally free of the Dementia that invaded her body and can now be at peace. Services on the 24th of February were to accommodate Fr. Barry’s schedule. He is a friend of the family and has known Beth and her husband John for many years.
Mom, Grandma, wife, friend, comforter, counselor, and disciplinarian, is how family and friends would describe “Beth” Elizabeth Grace Andreyko (O’Driscoll). She was loving, kind, caring, thoughtful, talented, fun, and adventurous.
Loving wife and partner to John L. Andreyko for almost 60 years. Mom to five wonderful children, four now adults: Andrew, John, Michael, and Michele, and one blessed child Debra Linn, who preceded her to heaven. Grandma to five amazing children, Drew, Avery, and now adults Jessica, Jason and Nicole, and Great Grandma to one talented boy, Tristan.
Beth was born in Youngstown, Ohio to Leo J. and Catherine O’Driscoll on November 1, 1937. Sister to Frank, and the late Jack, and was Aunt Beth to many nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.
Beth loved gardening with many flowers surrounding the house, including roses, daffodils, liatris, lilies, lilacs, and many others to attract butterflies and hummingbirds. She loved nature and wildlife especially watching and identifying birds. (She kept the feeders full at the house). She took us on many hikes to Cincinnati Nature Center, Mill Creek Park, Ault, Alms, Eden and other parks around town, visited the Cincinnati Zoo, Krohn Conservatory, Union Terminal, and many others. We went on yearly family vacations all over the country including national parks like the Grand Canyon, Smoky Mtns., Hocking Hills, Natural Bridge, and Yosemite, to camp and explore all of the natural wonders of the United States of America. Also went to Alaska, Boston, Washington D.C., Disney World, Disney Land, Cape Canaveral, Gatlinburg, San Francisco and even ventured to Ireland in 2006. She loved the wonderment of the moon and stars, and could identify the planets and constellations. She loved all of the seasons, for each had it’s own special thing about it, like the changing leaves in the Fall, the Spring flowers, the Winter snow and ice formations, and the Summer sunshine to enjoy many activities. She shared her love and passion for life, teaching as she went, to whoever showed an interest.
Beth loved music, dancing, roller skating, astrology, astronomy, movies, drive-in theaters, broadway shows, painting, going to the beach, photography, and SCUBA Diving. For SCUBA diving she travelled to Florida, Mexico, and all over the Caribbean with her husband, friends, and family to explore the amazing life in the water, and dive with the manatees, sting rays, and other wildlife swimming around the reefs and shipwrecks. She also taught the fish identification course at the YMCA SCUBA certification program. Beth’s adventurous side also included riding her own snowmobile in the snow belt in Michigan and flying in a helicopter over the Smoky Mtns. and Alaskan glacier and a sea-plane to Big Bear Lake.
Beth was a devoted mother and taught us all the life skills we would need. She was always there for childhood activities including: dance class, gymnastics, baseball, football, wrestling, basketball, and others. She was a stay-at-home Mom for many years until she decided to finish nursing school, graduating from Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing in 1974. Beth dedicated her nursing knowledge to caring for neo-natal infants at University Hospital who were brought into this world pre-maturely.
