Obituary for Laurie L. Kolenbrander (nee Bouma)

Laurie Kolenbrander (nee Bouma) dearly loved life partner of Harold Kolenbrander, committed mother of Kimberly (her husband Vincent) Mauer, Kirk (his wife Terri) Kolenbrander, and Kerri (her fiance' Chris Gretz) Kolenbrander, and grandmother of Steven, Laurie, David, and Julia Mauer, and of Emily (Kolenbrander) and Jasper Ho, and Sarah Kolenbrander, died on Sunday, July 29, at the age of 79, at Hospice of Cincinnati where she received truly exceptional care. In addition to her commitment to her family, Laurie was an active volunteer in many organizations including The League of Women Voters and PEO. Laurie was an active artist until her illness took her life. Her favorite medium was gold- and silver-smithing but she also worked in painting, weaving and sculpting and created literally hundreds of decorative eggs as Christmas tree ornaments. A celebration of her full, rich life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 6 at Mount Washington Presbyterian Church (MWPC), 6474 Beechmont Ave. Friends may visit at the Church on Sat. from 10-11 AM. Memorials may be directed either to Hospice of Cincinnati or to MWPC. T. P. White & Sons Funeral Home is serving the family.
